About Me

& The Meaning of Lupa

I am a mixed-race, cisgender woman. The part of me that comes from Filipino roots has had the honor of knowing the value of and feeling nourished by community, interdependence, and hearty meals. Lupa in Tagalog means a few things: earth, soil, land. Therapy, to me, is a place that we land, take root, replenish. A space to pause for a brief moment in our week, lay out what weighs heavy, feel a sense of being held or seen, and settle into ourselves. While therapy is where we come to explore change needed in our lives and for our mental health, it is also a place to slow down and re-ground.

Education & Professional Experience

I have been practicing therapy since 2018 and hold a master’s degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling from Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling. I have been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington since 2020.

My approach to therapy comes from a place of prioritizing safety in relationships. How can we heal, grow, or be challenged in or outside of therapy without safety in place? My goal is to help folks figure out what this can look like and how to move toward a more regulated nervous system.

I have worked in non-profits and community based organizations for more than half of my life and the entirety of my counseling career. My passion and deep sense of care for individuals who are excluded, under-resourced, under-served, and disenfranchised will always be at the forefront of my work. It is imperative to me to acknowledge and deconstruct the ways in which we are all impacted by systems of oppression. And to be part of recognizing the role therapy plays in this system.

I work to understand my clients and their needs from an existential lens, while at the same time integrating intra/interpersonal growth via attachment focused and mentalization based therapy modalities. I am also EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trained and am working towards my certification.
